Your Mission
As a System Engineer Public Cloud you will act as the central interface between development and operations. You will play a key role in provisioning and maintaining the underlay for our OpenStack components. You will be responsible for infrastructure automation at the bare metal level. By creating scalable and secure architectural designs, you will ensure our IT landscape is fully prepared for the future. You will manage our core systems and ensure that maximum reliability, operational efficiency, and strict compliance standards are maintained during ongoing operations.

Your responsibilities:
Developing and implementing scalable and secure system architectures, as well as providing and maintaining the physical infrastructure underlay for operating our OpenStack components
Designing and implementing automation frameworks for bare metal operations, including release management and CI/CD pipelines
Operating, monitoring, and continuously optimizing the performance of complex infrastructures using our observability stack with Grafana and Prometheus
Taking ownership of incident management, including root cause analysis, performance tuning, and third level support for critical internal systems
Managing small projects and providing technical advice to internal stakeholders on implementing specific architectural requirements
Ensuring system reliability through proactive lifecycle management and the integration of common IT security standards and hardening practices in close coordination with the security team
What you have to bring on board:
Relevant professional experience in system engineering or administering large and complex IT infrastructures, along with a completed IT education or a comparable qualification
Deep expertise in operating Linux distributions, preferably Debian. A good understanding of virtualization technologies and network services like DNS is highly welcome
Solid scripting skills in Bash and Python, combined with extensive practical experience in configuration management and Infrastructure as Code using Ansible and Consul
Practical experience with modern CI/CD workflows using GitLab, GitOps, and monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus. Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL is ideal
A basic understanding of IT security standards and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, BSI, and C5
Very good English skills
